On the TV show Psych, what happened to the mother?

Where is Shaun's mother? I take it he was raised by his father.

It has never been said, but rumors are that she left them when Shaun was young. Also, rumors are that she will be a couple of episodes next season.

I don't remember them ever saying, but I think his mother died when he was young. All they really say is that Shawn was raised by his father and is from a "family of detectives".
