I just bought 2x1GB OCZ EL DDR2 PC2-6400 / 800 MHz / Enhanced Latency / Platinum Edition sticks that are supposed to have 4-5-4-12 timing.

When i plug them into my ASUS P5W-DH motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300, the stick's SPD reports that they are PC2-5300...what gives?

Sounds to me like the bios has the memory set to DDR2-667.

Check out the BIOS options to see if you can adjust it. I do know that DDR2 was having issues with certain boards not supporting the voltage required for DDR2-800. ASUS was one of them.

Plus, I don't think OCZ is on their QVL (Qualified Vendors List) for DDR2 boards yet. Though I could be wrong.

Your motherboard must not support 800mhz memory.
