I have both a Mac and a Windows XP at work, but purchased an Intel iMac for home. I am using Mac OS X, and love it. I carry things between Windows XP at work and the Mac at home all the time - no problems. I have Office 2004 on my Mac - do powerpoint all the time, and word as well. No virus problems on the Mac - I do tech support in a building with Macs (80 %) and Windows (20 %) - the majority of my time is spent working on the Windows XP machines. I recently put a program called Parallels on my Intel iMac, which allows me to run Windows so my son can play his games that are only XP. I would suggest a MacBook Pro - you can run Windows if you have to. If you go that route, be sure to get virus protection for the windows side if you are going to be on the internet using Windows! Good luck!

Most gatdgets work on a Mac, though not sure what you mean about a camera? Webcam? All new Macs have an iSight inbuilt.

You can get Microsoft Office for Mac so Word, Powerpoint etc. won't be a problem! There are some games for the Mac but not many big names so to be honest it might disappoint you a bit.

MSN and Skype are served for the Mac so no probs there and Picture and Video editing is second to none.

In short if you can get over the games, A Mac is an awesome bit of kit with the best Os in the business and with OsX Leopard round the corner its about to get better! I hope you switch, I did a year ago and will never go back!

I've used both. Windows has so much more to offer than a Mac. It's good for games and trinkic toys ideas. But if you want to say on an application for a great job in a few years, be able to say that you're PC/Windows literate and know Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Office 2004 is for Mac OSX. Msn messenger is out for OSX...
Games lag behind PC release dates but the best ones usually are released for OSX... besides, if you bought a decent Mac, you can run one of a few available programs, install windows and play games as if you were on a PC.

As has as multi media apps, you have it all upside down. The Mac is FAR superior for those uses. This is why Hollywood uses a lot more macs for video/audio editing than PCs.

Vista is a humorous tale; a ways too many issues it! i'm very irritated because of fact I paid lots money for a nil.5-baked product. i offered a MacBook a pair of weeks in the past, upgraded to Leopard some days in the past and that i definitely like it! I used to think of Mac clientele have been in basic terms BS'ing whilst they reported Macs "in basic terms artwork", in spite of the undeniable fact that it extremely is real. i've got used abode windows all my existence yet i'm happy i've got ultimately seen the sunshine. OS X is the destiny; i visit in basic terms use vista at artwork because of fact I haven't any selection.

I think Mac can run everything you mentioned. I don't have one myself. Everything I learned about Macs, I learned from those "Hi, I'm a Mac..." "..and I'm a PC" ads.

Mac is better known, but is for the most part, incompatible.

USE LINUX

try downloading the Ubuntu distro. Burn it to a CD.

visit this website for more info about how good LINUX is....

you can install most games (some are free for linux), and use MS word, etc on linux, but not so easily on Mac.

www.whylinuxisbetter.net

Don't get scared by the drab default looks... LINUX is made to be CUSTOMIZED!!!

go to:

www.kde-look.org to see what themes and other goodies you can make linux look like!
