Martin Scorsese was born in Warm Springs, Georgia and raised in New York City. His father, Luciano Charles Scorsese (1912–1993), and mother, Catherine Scorsese (1912–1997), both worked in New York's Garment District. A sickly child, he spent much of his time recovering from asthma at home. It was at this stage in his life that he developed his passion for cinema.[4] Scorsese developed an admiration for neo-realist cinema. He recounted its influence in a documentary on Italian neorealism, and commented on how Bicycle Thieves inspired director Satyajit Ray, and how this influenced his view or portrayal of his Sicilian heritage.[5] His initial desire to become a priest was forsaken for cinema - the seminary traded for NYU Film School, where he received his MFA in film directing in 1966.

How long has it been? How close are you? Don't ever throw a friendship away based on distance. I lived in Ohio and had friends for years there. Now I moved to Montreal Canada. But we keep in touch through e-mails and IM's and even phone calls. Don't wait for your friend to call. Call your friend. Maybe she had something happen in her life that involves her attention. Maybe she felt abandoned by you moving away. Call her up and tell her you still value her friendship and try to bridge the gap. Afterwards, If you find that it is always you who is calling her, then maybe a new friend wouldn't be such a bad idea.

The quality of your friendship will directly depend on the amount of time and effort you put into it. So call her! Write a letter, an email, send her a card... do any of that! It might be a little awkward at first, but over time, your friendship will emerge stronger than ever.

that happened when i moved away from my friends too. life is busy. you hve to make an effort to keep in touch. what happens when you call her? never home i'm assuming. thats life. i've been apart from my friends for 6 years. we still talk. just a few times a year though. we're still just as close though. nothing feels weird between us. i totally miss my friends now. the point i'm making is make an effort and don't concider it a lost friendship.

Well you never know, because she might have actually been really busy. Try to keep in contact with her a bit, and then stop and see if she calls you, unless you don't have her number... than perhaps she's moved on.

Your new friend probably needs time to get used to the fact that you won't be together anymore. It's probably hard for her to get used to it. I definitely don't think that your friendship is over.
