They used to get on so well. Recently my son has started being really upset when the 8 month old comes near him or wants to follow him. He pulls his hair and screams at him. I'm not sure why he has statred to do this.

He is defending his territory! Somewhere along the line, the younger got attention when he didn't, and now he has to defend himself to get what he "deserves". Just make sure not to "play favorites", or when the younger needs something he doesn't, try to do something with him as well so he doesn't feel left out.

The easy answer? Babies are stupid. But don't worry, they grow into intelligent human beings.

In all seriousness, there are a number of reasons, and they will be the baby's own. He can't speak yet, I assume, since he's 11 months old (if he can, call the National Enquirer immediately). Keep him around and give them some time to patch things up. Babies are not unlike animals in this regard; disposition between two of them can change, sometimes for better, and sometimes for worse.
