Lions and WRs go together like horse and buggy. I think it would be hilarious if they did draft another receiver. If they did, I think Tim "the toolman" Taylor would ask that his Lions sweatshirts be blurred out in Home Improvement reruns!!

I think the city of Detroit would RIOT if they chose another wide receiver. While I find that to be mildly amusing, I think they will finally do something smart and choose Joe Thomas.

No. The Lions will draft Brady Quinn because of the fact he had an outstanding NFL combine overall performance and he has an outstanding artwork ethic. Jon Kitna isn't a protracted term answer at QB. Quinn will convey excitement to Detroit. i don't think of Calvin Johnson would be a bust however the Lions wasted 1st around selections on Charles Rodgers and Mike Williams.

I would say no under normal circumstances, but with Millen running the team, its a strong possibility. They have Roy Williams and Mike Furrey, who was a suprise last year and should be out to prove he's not a one year wonder. The Lions have more pressing needs to address with the #2 pick like QB or OL, but I wouldn't be suprised to see them draft Johnson, although a trade to a team who wants Johnson at #2 is a possibility. If they are targeting Brady Quinn, he'll probaly be available at picks 7-10

The biggest need for the Lions is to improve their offensive line and OT Joe Thomas is what they will draft. Oddly, this year is the year that Millen won't draft a reciever just to say, "I didn't draft a reciever," but Calvin Johnson would be a really good addition in that offense, but I don't think they can pass on an offensive lineman as good as Thomas. Even with someone as dumb as Matt Millen calling the shots.

No, the Lions have drafted too many receivers in the last couple of years that have not panned out to risk another high draft pick on one. While Calvin Johnson is the best player in the draft I think he will slide past Detroit.

I believe someone will move up and take him. He is going to be an awesome player and is definitely the first or second best player in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Raiders trade down with someone like Atlanta or Green Bay. Both of those teams are looking for a go to reciever. If Detroit is smart, they will trade down if Oakland takes a QB.

I'm a Lions fan and they will be stupid enough to draft Brady Quinn, wich they SHOULD NOT do. They actually have enough brains to NOT pick another W.R. I was hoping they would get rid of Milan, but that obviously didn't happen. They should get some really good O-Line player or Troy Smith since he will pass Oakland because he is being under-rated.

you sound like you think it would be a mistake to draft the guy? he's the most talented player in the draft...anyways, i think they will end up taking joe thomas, the OL from wisconsin...they need a lot more help on the line protecting jon kitna than they do at WR because roy williams is one of the best in the league, and mike furrey, who they just gave a new contract extension, had more than 100 catches last season

I would laugh if they did, but I don't think that Rod Marinelli is as stupid as some of the coaches that they've had in the past.

But if Millen gets to choose, then I wouldn't be surprised.

EDIT:

J.A. -- Are you serious? They are NOT thin at the WR position...Mike Williams has potential, Furrey played very well this year, and they need a QB, not another WR.

it wouldnt be bad to draft him but the lions dont need another wide reciever. they should get joe thomas at OL but if the raiders are retarted enough to pass up JeMarcus Russell then the lions should draft him
