I have an interview tomorrow and I am trying to prep myself, I always hate the question "what characteristics are your weakest"? I am just not sure of this question but I want to sound sincere and make myself look like a good canididate at the same time.

Sometimes I am just too conscientious about my work and I tend to bring home too much work and it interferes with my social life.

I guess that I would be pensive; as if the the thought had never occurred to me! My answer would be that "I guess I don't spend much time thinking about my weaknesses". This might seem like a non-answer but not having an answer is okay. If they press you on it. I'd ask about what kinds of things are they talking about. Remember interviews are two way streets. They need to be able to provide you with an idea of what they consider weak. If they hit on something fine, if they don't then they won't expect you to make something up.

Answer that question in the affirmative...in other words pick something and turn it around. Something like..."well I'm too focused sometimes, I just bore in and sometimes do too mcuh" something like that.

Do some soul searching and identify potential weaknesses and practice how to make them a strength....more than any thing else identify your STRENGTHS and be able to talk and demnonstrate with words how you use your strengths.

Remember the only reason anyone will hire you (or anyone else for that matter) is if they see you bring VALUE to what they do...they can only see that if they see you strengths...don't worry so much about weakness.
all the best.

Someone's weakness may be another's strength. But usually some people find themselves too focus in one area/topic. Thus, you can say that you get too focus with work that you dont worry about anything else. You can make your weaknesses sound good too! Good luck!!!

Good qualities can be a weakness. Example... One of my weaknesses is getting to involved. Too much effort can be a weakness, anything in excess is weak so think of some good things that you may do too much

I always go with "I tend to be too honest."
Which has always worked well for me unless of course you are applying for a sales job. Then honesty might not be a strong point.

tell them one of these

i am a hardworker, sometimes i work too hard.
or
i am a neat freak, i like things to be neat
or
people who like to talk may be attracted to me because i am a such great listener

i like saying those three because they are not really "bad" like saying "i smell bad", but they are still considered weaknesses
