Hahaha. I think I know what you're getting at here and I like it. It was an Empire conspiracy so that they could declare war on the Rebels, just like 9/11. 9/11 conspiracyists are retards, and this comparison is brilliant. (Sorry if thats not what you were going for. The parrallels were just too much for me to ignore)

As has just been mentioned:

Death Star Repairmen is a featurette about two Imperial handymen who fix things on a certain very large Imperial Battle Station. A routine repair job is interrupted when the Space Station is attacked by Rebel Forces. Our duo wants to drop everything and blast some rebels. Unfortunately, they are not allowed - they must continue with the job at hand while all hell breaks loose around them...

The true story behind Luke's shot ;) I always knew he wasn't cool enough to take down a Death Star, Force or no Force.

Well, it makes sense if they knew there was a major defect in the original Death Star. They put in a "vandalism" claim with their insurance company (claiming "a young kid in an X-Wing fighter shot something in their exhaust port). Then, you take the cash from that, and make a "new and improved" one.

Location, location, location! Near Endor is a WAY better place for a Death Star!

It had to have been, you would think that any exhaust would have a series of catches and baffles to prevent foreign debris from entering and clogging up the system. Also, if i understand it correctly, they were flying down the center trench, so where was the wall the exhaust coming out of? wasn't the trench continuous?

No it was the torpedoes and Luke's ability to follow the Force

It was a chain-reaction. The small thermal exhaust port, just below the main port was targeted, starting a reaction that spread to the core and caused the destruction of the station...

...sigh, now I have to build a new one.

there is a fan film that shows a repairman on the death star accidentally dropping a wrench into the tunnel leading to the main reactor.

But, we have to trust in Luke and the force. ;)

It was those damn kids from the Rebellion!! But it was one precise shot that took out the Death Star courtesy of Luke Skywalker.

As the rebels were already being hunted down by the Empire, I do not believe that they blew up their own mega-weapon just before they could destroy the rebel base.

They never said it was an inside job. The Force did it.
