Bad news is always easier to take if you also present your Mum a plan on how much harder you are going to work to improve. Not just promises, mind you.....a real plan.
Like, "I will study this every day for one hour".
Also, suggest you and Mum go meet with the teacher. Teachers always want you to do better and can help you if you ask.

Well, if it's unlike you, sounds like you'd be disappointed in the grade too. So take it like you're telling a friend you got a bad grade. Like it's helping take a load of your mind telling someone. Then talk about how you got a poor mark and what you can do to improve. If you approach it like a conversation istead of delivering news. It'll be easier and more productive. good luck.

First of all, ask yourself why you got a bad grade. Were you slacking off? Or were you actually trying hard, and it was just a hard subject? If your mom is understanding, she will get the fact that you tried, and that this bad grade isn't a usual thing. Just tell her the truth, it's always better than lying about a grade.

Honey, always, always tell the truth. It is by far better to tell the truth than to lie about it. Your Mum would be much more disappointed to learn that you lied to her. Sit her down and tell her what happened and that you have a game plan to bring the grade up. (I am assuming you have a game plan, if not, you better get one) Good luck and be sure to tell the truth!!!

You could start with - "I tried my best, but I got a low grade in _______. "
She may be a bit disappointed, but if you have a good relationship, she will most likely try to help you improve in that subject so you get a better grade next time.

Everyone has given you good advice. The longer you wait, the more apt you mom is to find out on her own. She will be much more disappointed if she hears it from someone else. Also, the longer you wait, the more stress you yourself will endure which will make it harder to do well in other classes.

Just be honest. Tell her about the grade, explain what happened, and tell her your plans to improve this grade the next semester.

Don't surprise her about it, that'll take a turn for the worse. Just ease into it, and tell the truth. It can't get any simpler than that. You just need to plan on what you need to do to improve that. It's as simple as that.

Tell your Mom that you are having trouble with a class and see if you can get any help at school......tell her that you messed up and will make it up to her by improving and tell her that you are currently looking for help at school so that you can improve.....but improve so that you don't fail and your Mom can see you do care and want to improve!!! It will help so she does not beat you up as hard as if you didn't show caring about your class!!!
