how would you define high power negative spec lenses?

I am studying to become a dispensing optician and have just completed an essay on this but just not sure if I m heading down the right track anyone got any help please thanks loads

Ther are used to correct nearsightedness. The higher the diopter, ther thicker the edges of the lens.The thinnest part of the lens is otwards the center.
