i like to draft players i can root for. to me the best fantasy victories come when john lackey outduels johan santana. it doesn't happen much, but when it does...

what gives you more enjoyment: owning successful players or favorite players? drop names if you like.

i draft players i think will be successful. i try to avoid picking my players specifically because then i will cuss them out when they strike out, get caught stealing, etc. last year, i was in a money league and i had the luxury of owning miguel cabrera (hate the marlins), chase utley (who?), and sr. smoltz (well, he is a favorite of mine, but he was still available!). these three did quite well for me. also forgot i had scott kazmir and papelbohn, which was scary cuz they didn't even pitch the month of september. the only player i remotely like is smoltz!!

it also makes it easier to cut someone if you don't particularly care for them or their team. so i choose to go for successful players (but it isn't easy!!)

I like a mix of both. I'm a Cards fan and last year I gave up a lot to get Pujols when it was clear I was out of the race. I'm looking forward to this year. I have a chance to get Carpenter in my draft this year too, hoping for that. Then I'll build my team with the best of the rest. On the flip side, there are guys I'd never own because I just really hate them. I had someone draft for me two years ago and he picked Bradly as one of my outfielders. I dropped him like a hot potato. I'd never own Bonds either, now or years ago. I passed on him in two drafts a few years ago. I can learn to like many players, will always have some favorites like Albert but will never take someone I hate.

I do a little of both. I at least draft one or two players that i like and root for. Other than that i draft the best available players.

yes its more fun when you draft players you like. there are certain players I will never draft like jeter, giambi, arod, pretty much any yankee. i also wont draft a player with an ugly swing(hank blalock, jeremy burnitz when he used to hit 40 HRs) or Left handed starters that throw 85 MPH strike out 110 guys a year but somehow win 15 games cause i find then boring(Tom Glavine, kenny Rogers)

succesful players because I am ultra competitive. Plus I don't really have a favorite team or player (outside of Pujols, and I'll draft him for production anyway).

C- Martinez, McCann, or Mauer 1B- Pujols, Morneau, Miguel Cabrera or Tex 2B- Pedroia, Kinsler or Utley (take them quickly because of the fact they would be long previous rapid) SS- somebody from NL East or Jeter 3B- Youkilis or Longoria OF- Braun, Ibanez or Crawford (for stolen bases) SP- Greinke, Licecum, Halladay, Santana, Sabathia, Peavy, Verlander or Haren RP- ok-Rod, absolutely everyone from NL West, Papelbon or absolutely everyone from AL East (aside from TB closers)
