It was all Yoko Ono's fault. She began dictating too much of John Lennon's life, which the rest of the beatles band resented. Along with John's waxing and waining heroin abuse, and the trouble with the band/family and health crisis, John was the first to sever himself from the band.
John Lennon announced his departure to the rest of the group on September 20, 1969 but was talked out of saying anything about it publicly.
In March 1970 the Get Back session tapes were given to American producer Phil Spector, who had produced Lennon's solo single "Instant Karma!". Spector's "Wall of Sound" production was against the original intent of the record, which had been to record a stripped-down live performance. McCartney was deeply dissatisfied with Spector's treatment of "The Long and Winding Road", and unsuccessfully attempted to halt release of Spector's version of the song. McCartney publicly announced the break-up on 10 April 1970, a week before releasing his first solo album, McCartney. Pre-release copies included a press release with a self-written interview explaining the end of the Beatles and his hopes for the future. On 8 May 1970, the Spector-produced version of Get Back was released as Let It Be, followed by the documentary film of the same name. The Beatles' partnership was finally dissolved in 1975.

The Beatles officially broke up in 1970, but it was over before that. Why did they break up? Well, it wasn't about the music anymore, mang. Lawyers wre getting involved. Money became important. And have ya met Yoko??
Look, The Beatles were KIDS when they became a cultural phenomenon. It couldn't last.

1970. Everybody thinks it's Yoko Ono but it really wasn't. When their old manager Brian Epstein died they needed someone to replace him. Paul wanted Lee Eastman (who is his wife Linda's dad) but the others though Lee would favor Paul's ideas over theirs. John, George & Ringo wanted the Rolling Stones old manager Allen Klein to be their new manger but, Paul pointed out that their was speculation that Klein had been stealing from the Stones personal bank accounts. Ultimately they couldn't come to this conclusion and John and Paul's personal relationship was falling apart due to lack of new ideas and being tired of working together for so long. After scrapping the Get Back/Let It Be project they came together one last time together record their final album Abbey Road. Later, Paul was the one who left the group, the others wanted to carry on but he took them to court in 1970 to ensure that nobody else could ever use the Beatles name. They had already been broken up but the Beatles partnership didn't officially dissolve completely from existence until 1975.

On April 10th, 1970, Paul McCartney publicly announced his retirement from the band. Really, it wasn't a shock to anyone. Ever since Brian Epstein died, the Beatles started to slowly grow apart. They wanted solo careers and they didn't want to be singing songs like "She Loves You" when they were fifty!!!

They broke up between the year 1969-1970.
None of them had died yet but they broke up because they were all very talented but they were all wanting to do their own projects.
They ended up just going their seperate ways,
