Scientifically, men should go for hourglass women, with wide hips and a bigger chest but narrower waist. I do think that alot of women who are described as 'full-figured' usually fit into this more than the typical 'attractive' women potrayed in the media, so in some ways, it actually makes more sense than men who like very thin women.

However when you get to very overweight women, It becomes more complicated. There's many ways to explain many different fetishes and this is just one of them. I'd maybe look up information on psychology sites or in books on explaining fetishes and you'd likely get some information on this. I can't think of any by heart and I all my books are at my other place, but any good psychology book will give you lots of answers if you really are interested.
