I use them still and so do my co workers. I would just throw old disks away. Tear them up so the information that was on them is no longer accessible.

Well, many people believed the 3.5 inch diskette would be replaced by the CD. This didn't happen because burning a disk takes a long time and you can only do it once. Then people thought that the CD-R/W would replace it. That didn't happen because CD-R/Ws are not truly rewritable like a magnetic 3.5" disk.
USB drives came around and people thought they would finally finish off those disks, but that hasn't happened as few people actually carry one around.
3.5" discs will finally be replaced by email, not a new storage medium.

These days, they are pretty much useless.
I keep a couple around for loading Raid drivers and some basic Diag utilities. But that's only because I do that stuff on a regular basis.

keep some of them atleast. sometimes you need to create a boot disk if you want to install an older operating system.

NO! They are old, slow and unreliable. they are still used, but rarly. FLASH DRIVES ARE BETTTER
