The US has chosen not to do studies on Marijuana and effects for miscarriages and other issues. Don't drink, this can cause miscarriages and other defects, but the repercussions of smoking Pot during pregnancy are not clear as they have not been studied. It's not a great idea to use anything while you are pregnant, but I do know quite a few people that have smoked either at the beginning to curb nausea or through the whole thing becuase they were selfish. Personally I do believe it affects the way children are in the hyper and developmental levels, but it should not cause miscarriage. Sorry to those that disagree, but where are your facts for Marijuana? You won't find them they don't exist. There are general studies that have been done on smoking that bulks the two together, but they are two separate issues.

bananas can cause a miscarriage. When you're pregnant you need to treat your body like a temple. A miscarriage is the best of your friends problems. What if she continues this behavior and the baby lives. Mental retardation, physical ailments are just a few of the things that can go wrong. If she has a child with special needs then drinking and smoking will be the only escape she'll be able to find. A vicious cycle.

Well some doctors will tell you that it is okay to smoke weed, but not all the time. Drinking on the other hand. Just one drink can cause a miscarrage..I am going on 16wks, and that is what my dr told me..Smoking weed is not good either way, but if you must do it. Dont do it all the time...and not as much as you would....

Anyone who tells you that their friend smoked and drank throughout pregnancy and that the baby was fine can't know that for sure and if their children are fine then its a miracle and they dont know how lucky they are. Both smoking and drinking can cause ADHD, low birthweight, eczema, ear infections, learning difficulties. Babies of smokers are admitted into hospital far more times in the first two years than babies of non smokers. Please advise your friend to stop doing this if she thinks she is pregnant.
Fetal Alchohol Syndrome can be caused by drinking and the government advise not drinking at all as it is not known how little or how much alcohol it takes for babies to be affected by this.
Drinking or smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage. If she does not give up both then her baby isn't gonna have a very good start in life. Try and encourage her to see that its not just herself she is responsible for.

it is a risk of smoking weed. I never did it while i was pregnant, BUT this last one i smoked it for 4 weeks before i found out i was pregnant, and those are the most important growing moments for the baby. My son is perfectly healthy, im now 24 weeks and i stopped smoking week when i was 6 weeks pregnant. The moment i found out. It can be dangerous and i wouldnt recommend it. The baby can be born addicted to it and eventually she can have her baby taken away from her, thats if her baby makes it. They urine test at every dr's appointment and whenever the dr feels like testing her urine for it, they might catch on and then shes in a whole new problem. Its smarter and much easier to stop it altogether, and start again when the baby is here if she wants to :) Goodluck

the simple answer to this is yes!!! She needs to get herself off the weed because if anything happens im sure she wouldnt ever be able to forgive herself. Im 23 weeks pregnant and stopped smoking and drinking since i found out and all i can think of is my little baby being at risk and that keeps me going. Its bad enough for her own heath so its twice as bad for the baby. She needs to knock it on the head!

As an older woman i smoked both during pregnancy,Its not right no matter how you look at it ,its like giving a baby a shot gun.But I recommend cutting it out but if you smoke either of them regularly then you should ween off so baby doesnt get stressed from your withdrawl.I would also get advice from a doctor cause of thr stress on the baby.

This can't cause a miscarriage but if she carries on will cause a premature birth and low weight baby. Plus the baby will be addicted to weed too and when it arrives it is gonna be taken off the drugs suddenly which will cause stress.

I have had several friends smoke their entire pregnancy( I smoked myself with my oldest) and all of them have had beautiful healthy babies with nothing wrong( and alot of them are adults now).....and the one that I smoked with is my healthiest child. I don't recommend it but it does not cause serious birth defects.
Drinking is a totally different story...I have seen severe affects from children whose mom drank while pregnant.
