Why do we go to yahoo answears to ask question's when we all have family and friends. i means I was right next to a girl in the Library. I was answeraing questions and she wanted to ask a question. Why couldnt she just ask a stranger like me. That is what we are doing in the first place. The first person to give me a great answear to this social strangness gets 10 points

I think people don't want to appear dumb or stupid to people they know; also they may be doing things or have ideas which people they know would not approve. Because the online community is made up of strangers and identities are anonymous, unless you choose to reveal it, people have the freedom to let their thoughts and questions roll uncensored.

Are you kidding? Here are some possibilities:

I will ask questions here and answer questions here because if you laugh at my question or answer I don't know that you are laughing so I don't care. On the other hand, if I ask you face to face, then I know immediately that you thought my question was stupid or that I am revealing my lack of intelligence.

My family and/or friends are not interested in the topics I look at on Yahoo Answers. I prefer to converse about such topics with other people I know are also interested.

Many questions I put forth on YA are not so much that I am seeking an answer as I already have an answer that suits me, but more to give other people who are interested something to think about themselves.

Also, I like to laugh at answers of people who don't believe the same as I do. If I laugh at people in private, it's not so rude is it?

Because the knowledge we seek may not be within our family and friends only!
It is amazing what revelations a stranger next to you may surprise you to provide!
I've learned a lot from strangers, even while waiting for a bus or train or whatever.
And I am not saying my family and friends have not helped me . . they have!
But we all need a little help from our STRANGERS too . . after all, "Man does not live by Bread Alone???"

It happens, because we are reserved and closed. How you can come up to a stranger and ask him a question? However, it is very easy to do it on inet, where no one will recognize your identity, you can feel free to ask and to answer whatever you want.
You for instance, you didn't ask that girl, you asked it here, why?
