He would prefer to be a RB rather than a FB. He was the RB at Rutgers his junior year but shared time this year and did some time at FB. I think he may end up being a situational runner such as Jerome Bettis was at the end of his career or like Ron Dayne and TJ Duckett are now. I think he would have to be a FB to become a full time player.
For those of you who have negative comments about this question, you need to do your own research on football. Brian Leonard can do a lot more than block. He has averaged 4.5 yards a carry and has had 16 rushing touchdowns the last two seasons. He also was the leading receiver for Rutgers the past two seasons. I would say a guy who can block, run, and catch is probably worth talking about. Someone is going to get a great all around player out of Leonard whether he plays RB or FB late in the draft.

with the number of FA RBs AND the number in the draft, I don't see him starting at RB (atleast not for a while), but I do think he has the physical talent to do so (he put alot of effort into losing all the weight).
Also, his play style isn't much like Alstott at all (and the guy who said Alstott is only good for blocking ---you are an idiot, he isn't a blocking FB at all, he's a goal-line/short-yardage back)

Yes, this guy is the real deal.
If by the next Mike Alstott you mean the next great fullback, then yes... but i mean, the guy isn't really that much like mike alstott...

Brian Leonard is NOT the next Mike Alstott. While he is very good he is also a little overrated.

I think Leonard is better because he loves to block, but he is also a great runner and has very good hands.

In my opinion, Allstott is majorly overrated. I mean, what skills does the guy have?
Let's see. He doesn't have good hands, good speed, or good feet.
What does he have? Good size.
And that's it.
