The parentheses are relatively unimportant... it is a subtraction, not multiply or divide, so it is simply a matter of removing the parentheses from the first set, and then applying the -1 to the second set (multiplying the each term in the second set by -1)

k(h)= 9h +8 -h^2 -h^2 -8 +9h
k(h) = 18h - 2h^2
