That is a saying for those afraid of ageing. They want to believe their life just begn so they don't have to regret what they wasted in the past.

Its fantastic that you feel great at 40. Relish your life for everything you have, and re-evaluate yourself fo what you want to acheive over the next 30-40 years. Your only halfway through this crazy thing we call life!

Life begins at 40 means that if you have learned anything in the last 40 year, you can use that experience to carry you through the rest of your life. Most people have gained enough experience in 40 years to hopefully not make the same mistakes over and over again. However, life is a continuous journey, and there is really no time when we know everything there is to know. We will all still make mistakes, but we will learn from them and try not to repeat them.

Also, most people by 40 have some kind of an education, a job, and maybe a family. But not all. This saying is a little unfair because when it started, maybe 80 years ago, things were a lot different. I would say life begins at birth, and what follows is what we put into it. By the way, middle age is now something like 60 yrs.!

I'm only 36 and its incredible how I go through periods in my life when I feel very old and other times when I feel very young. I spoke to someone who turned 40 and they said they felt it was an important moment in their life. I guess its a time to reflect on what you have accomplished and whether you have achieved the goals you expected to. It sounds like you have, so well done for that. I wouldnt say its middle age, its more a chance to now build on what you have accomplished so far.

Happy birthday in advanced!! Age is just a number that we become more and more concern as we get older. Enjoy each and every day as it comes!

Life begins when we accept what we have, what we are and we are not too concerned what others thinks. Many people call it middle age, I call it settled and content.

To answer your question and it is a true saying 'You are as old as you feel'.

I am a great deal older than you and my advice is stop thinking about your years but concern yourself with what you get out of and give in your life, because believe you me old age creeps up on you before you know where you are. So stop this talk of middle age and consider it as life's natural progession in years.

Get out there and grab life by the balls.

You're middle aged. Don't feel bad. So am I. But my 3 kids are old enough to leave home alone so I get more time for myself. I'm fit and healthy. I have less financial worries so I can afford to have more fun. I love vacationing with and without my kids now. Life is good. Enjoy it!
