i thought it was an okay movie, but I'm not a big fan of musicals, so I def. was watching the clock. don't think it deserved as many awards and nominations as it got. just my opinion.

I do like muscials but this one was overrated. IMHO I do not understand the hype around Hudson. She was overrated even more than the picture. Knowles was okay- she didn't get the attention she deserved.

If you're not a fan of musicals it's normal to not understand why it was a big deal at the Oscars. I do agree with you though, it did deserve some of the awards, but I wasn't a big fan of the musical to begin with. I loved the musical RENT...and i felt it was completly shunned by the Academy. It's just Musical are not very popular so "Oscar" just wants them to get the recognition it deserves. Just look at the movie version of the musical "Chicago"

Everyone has his/her own opinion. I fully respect you. Now let me tell you my opinion. Dreamgirls had a highly respectable cast. Wonderful soundtrack, costumes and beautiful story. Jennifer Hudson also made the movie even bigger. If your not a fan of musicals then it is perfectly understandable to not "get" the big deal. The musical doesn draw to namely gay men who thrill in watching divas rise, fall, and emancipate themselves.

I think it was an absolutely GREAT film. The characters were played to perfection and every award, nomination, and publicity that the movie is receiving is WELL DESERVED.......
Congratulations Jennifer Hudson, she was the Best in the movie and hard work do pay off....

If you don't like musicals, it's understandable that you wouldn't dig it. But if you are a fan of musicals, it is clearly one of the best in a long time.

some movies tend to be overhyped. they probably have a bigger publicity and promotion budget than other movies. it was a good movie, and jennifer hudson was really great, but i think it was a little overhyped. it was also a tad too long.
