No, I think it can be independent. But it takes all kinds of people to build a society. You need managers as well as workers, doctors, lawyers, and welfare folks.

Why can't folks learn to use "Check Spelling". That's what it is there for! It is difficult to answer your question without making a conclusion in advance. Since liberals generally favor socialistic solutions, the answer is simple. Look around the world and try to find a very successful socialistic economy. Now look around the world and try to find a mildly successful socialistic economy. Now look around the world and see multitudes of free market economies, generally favored by conservatives that are very successful. Not perfect to be sure, but considering the alternative, no contest.

Really, Conservatism only works when they finance it with a huge national debt. Hoover, Reagan, Bush -- any more like that and the Chinese won't buy the Treasury Bonds to keep this country afloat.

With modern liberals, I would say no. Look to the economic wasteland that is Western Europe and you will see the inefficiency that is modern Liberalism.
Plus, any society that plunges itself into perversion is by no means sustainable. Liberals have less children than cons, and hence less workers to support their welfare state.
