Maybe because he doesn't put out a lot of albums. And he seems pretty low key. I also think people that do soundtracks get overlooked. To be honest, the last album I remember by him was "Neck And Neck", with Chet Atkins (Great album, even though I might have the title wrong!). And in art, great artists are usually overlooked or not recognized for their art.

knopf is an awsum guitarist but i think his moanin voice lets him down with dire straits. He is a very 'press shy' person so he dont go round actin the wild man and gettin a name for himself.

Definitely a damn good player, but I think he isn't as well known as say, Eddie Van Halen because he's not a high profile guy. He isn't over-exposed the way so many other players are. But in *guitar* circles, he's known.
