Israel is the only stable democracy in the Middle East; Iraq is a democracy now, but still not stable.
Democracies rarely, if ever, go to war with other democracies. Therefore protecting a democracy helps the chances of peace, and we try to help democracies.
Anti-semitism is common in the Middle East. It is not simply Israel, but in fact Jews, who are a target of many power groups there, and it could degenerate into genocide.

If Iran invaded Isreal, the US would invade Iran to defend our alie.
It would lead to an all out war by the whole middle east against the US.. What our government should do is mind it's own business..One of the reasons for 9/11 is the US support of Isreal..If we distance ourself from this country we can have peace..

Iran's president said he wanted to see Israel "wiped off the map".

It matters because it is an indication of how much of a nutbag he is. De-stabilization in the Middle East could affect our ability to get OIL. Our entire economy would collapse without Oil.

We are friends with Israel, which is one of the reasons (along with other foreign policies) why our enemies want to kill us. Israel can defend itself.

yes- it's nothing new- they are extremely anti-semitic and even hosted a Holocaust denial conference as well as a cartoon contest to make fun of Jews and the Holocaust.

Why does it matter? It's a matter of principle- if one group of people decide that they want to kill, convert or subjugate all of a racial group- is that something that should be tolerated?

And if so- how long do you think it will take till someone decides it's your turn to be eliminated?

It affects us because Jews rule the media and out country. Obviously no one cares that Israel has broken so many UN resolutions but just because Iranian president says that they should not exist, that creates a problem. Words are more than actions in this case.

It doesn't affect us AT ALL if Isreal remains or is blown off the map. Nor does Iraq matter to us. Or Iran for that matter.

They all express it, but don't have the backbone to do it. For one, the Israelis would put a major hurt on anyone who attacks and the US is their biggest ally, which drags us into the fray.
