If your laptop doesn't have a built in wireless card, the easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to buy a wireless notebook card for it. These can be cheap or expensive, depending on which you get.
Make sure your laptop has a slot for it before you buy one.

Next time, buy a Macintosh with wireless built in (relatively simple to activate). My wife and I have three Macs (2 desktops and an older laptop) interconnected in a home wireless system and are absollutely delighted.

I would say get a USB wireless adapter. I think if you look around you can find them for about 30 bucks.
