People are shaped by environment, genes and experiences.

For example: my mom is a smart woman and very organized. My father is a doctor and has a short fuse. Both are very social.

I on the other hand am smart as well (not braggin, I get good grades) but due to my mom being so over organized I let her do everything for me as a kid and now I'm a wreck, I couldn't keep an agenda for my life. I have the same explosive anger type as my father though and the two have collided often in my formattive years, most likely because we form our ideas on relationships and interactions watching our parents as we grow up.

As opposed to my parents I am very shy. I was a chubber as a kid and it really brought down my self-esteem growing up because the people in my surroundings made me feel that way. Before I went to school I had no problem with being overweight.

My parents got seperated because my mom thought my dad was to jealous and has told me that I have the tendency to be jealous and I act like my father at times, pejoratively of course.

Both are important and influential.
Psychopaths and sociopaths are genetically determined, for instance. It is usually from a rare form of, get this, ADD that distracts them whenever they are in the middle of decision-making. So they act only on impulses, even the most violent ones. They never consider the costs of their actions or the feelings of others because they never think about it long enough to consider those things. There are ways to overcome your disposition, but unfortunately, they are difficult to do. Of course, we all know some people are born geniuses, and others are born idiots, so is there a way to make a dumb person smart? Of course. Is there a way to make a bad person good? Maybe. If the parents are good people, usually so will the child be. So don't worry about your kids. You'll reap the seeds you yourself sowed.

Peoples enviroment shape them more based on the fact that you can be born with almost any kind of genes but all about how u are being raised and who you come up around, because what ever your family, friends, and the society norms and morals will become your own or be similar to what his/her parents, friends and area of which they call home.....

Really FASCINATING Qu! I had always believed in Nurturing--BUT, as I adopted a baby in '68, and later, when she was 25, got to meet the bio-mom and grandparents, it's DEFINITELY a mix of the two!!! I suppose, too of the environment! Her bio-mom found her when she was 25 and my daughter wanted me to come out with her to Calif. to meet her and the family. That's the LAST thing I wanted to do--but she said, "You're my MOM!! You HAVE to come with me!!" While I was really scared that I'd "lose" her, it turned out incredibly well!! Not only their physical elements were similar, but the MANNERISMS, as well!!! They had not spent one MINUTE together, yet there they were!! Long flowing full hair; similar sense of humor!! But as the bio mom's life-long friends observed us both, they began commenting how similar my daughter's voice and mine were--as well as other behaviors. Thank Goodness that we are NOT pre-determined by either our genes nor our envioronment!!!

You know if they did a study with my sister and I. We both would give arguments to the contrary.
I am a product of nurture. I don't have my fathers blood and I turned out to be just like him.
My sister is a product of nature. Because of the way our father is she spent 90% of her life away from him. And still turned out to be just like him and our mother. The same habits, likes and dislikes.
I do feel that it is both because I believe in balance. It is a little of both,my sister and I are living proof of that

your genes determine if your going to be born with half a brain or some crippling disease.

environment will determine if you know your mozart, if you decide to smoke or exercise, eat tons or not and stuff like that
