Whoever told you that is an idiot. Get your rest. Everyone is tired early on in their pregnancy.

NO, whomever told you that is full of crap, excuse my language. Your body is very busy producing a human being, you are going to be exahusted. The tired feeling is your body telling you, "hey, I'm working hard here, can you give me a little break?" Go get any pregnancy book and it will tell you to sit, rest, relax. I am pregnant with twins and I sleep 8-10 hours a night, plus take a 1-2 hour nap in the day time. Now I have a wonderfully understanding a helpful husband. I am lucky. You need to rest, let your housework and such go. Make sure you are taking your vitamins. The fatigue usually goes away in the second tri-mester, but some don't. With this pregnancy, it started out bad and has just gotten worse.

Cause it to STICK?
Nope, never heard that one.
Dont' worry. My theory is that you're tired for a reason, it's your body's way of making sure you get the rest you need. Think about how much work your body is doing on its own right now, without you having to do ANYTHING. It takes a lot of "energy" (not caffienne energy, but the more natural kind like you use to burn calories) to make a baby. Since your body does that non-stop for nine months, yeah, it needs the rest.
This doesn't mean you have a free pass to sit and watch Judge Judy and reruns of the Golden Girls for nine straight months. As long as your doctor deems you fit to do so, you should be doing some moderate exercise during the day, to keep you from adding more weight than you need to, give you energy, and help yourself during childbirth and postpartum.
Use this time to get the rest you need, though. Once the baby's born, rest will be a thing of the past.

It's just the opposite. You getting the rest you need is great for the baby. They do say you should try to lay on your left side as opposed to the right for added blood flow to the fetus. I've never heard of the fetus "sticking" anywhere. There are instances where a larger fetus can compress his own umbilical cord inside and hurt himself but those cases are rare. Also, your energy should pick up in another month or so when your hormones stabilize. Good luck!

What exactly is the fetus going to stick .....or stick to?
I never heard that one before. You need rest. That is why you are so tired. You need the energy you get from extra rest to build the placenta to nurture the fetus.
You will get less tired during the second trimester and then tired again during the third when the baby is getting bigger very quickly.
Listen to your body and if you have real concerns about rumors such as these, please do yourself a huge favor and pick up the phone to call your OB.
Good luck

If sleeping a lot during pregnancy is bad then I would be in REALLY bad shape!! :)
My first trimester I was so exhausted it was painful (I thought I had Mono before finding out I was pregnant). I used to nap during the day on my lunchbreak from work and sometimes would go to bed at 8 PM (or earlier!) I slept A LOT! I am now 27 weeks pregnant and my baby is very healthy and growing!
If you're exhausted, then sleep! Your body is telling you to rest! You absolutely can't hurt the baby by sleeping too much!

No way is that true! Your body is working overtime in a major way to grow that baby!! You are expected to tired all the time and you should rest whenever you can now!! As long as you are eating a well-balanced diet and getting physical excercise you are fine. Your obgyn will test you for an iron-deficency, this is something routine they do. Low iron can make you extra tired, they would give you an iron supplement in this case. Enjoy your rest now.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Most pregnant women are exhausted the whole first trimester (until 14 weeks or so). Its normal, and your body needs rest to nuture and grow that baby properly. Sleep now, while you can! You won't get much once the baby is born.

No its not true. You should be as active when you are awake as you were before you were pregnant. But even with a full nights sleep, you often need a nap in the day time as well.
It wont harm the baby. You just need to stay healthy.

I have never heard of such a thing - usually women have a hard time sleeping, as it becomes difficult to get comfortable in bed. Trying to sleep lying on your left side while sleeping is usually recommended, though, for better blood flow to the placenta and to keep the weight of the baby off of your liver.

I'm sure you are moving around enough. I'm 3 1/2 months and I'm still very tired after work. I come straight home and lay down for the majority of the night. Exercise is good, but so it rest. Just don't take advatage of it too much.
