How do I make permanent changes in font color and background?

I have tried several times to change the page color and font size and color and have not been able to get it done. Can someone please help!

Did you try right-clicking on an unused area of the screen and going to Properties and going to Appearance? (And maybe even the Advanced tab on Appearance?)
