I don't think fishnet stockings are ever appropriate for any function other than a strip club or haloween event!

Sorry, but that's a negative on the fishnets. No matter how fun and liberal and awesome your workplace is, fishnets are inappropriate for an after-hours work function. Sorry. If you showed up in fishnets, it is guaranteed you will be talked about behind your back and your coworkers will lose some respect for you. Whether you know it or not, you are constantly being evaluated by your superiors....no matter if it's during, or after-hours.
While this may suck, most professionals believe that fishnets should be reserved for prostitutes and fishermen.

If it is a work function as opposed to a social function, wear professional business attire. That means plain hose...sorry. I know fishnet stockings are cute but being cute is not the purpose of attending a business dinner. Mind your manners and watch your alcohol consumption, too. This is absolutely NOT the time to let down your guard.

Any job function, be it work or office party carrys the chance of being evaluated and watched by supervisors and other people that can influence your career.
Many a person has been fired by what was said or done in an after hours work function.
Wear whatever would be appropriate during work hours.

Depends on the job. If you're a prostitute then I'd say yes...
Fishnet stockings send out a clear message - "I love my legs and wouldn't you like to see what's under my skirt!"

It depends in where you work at. Is there a dress code you can always call HR and find out the dress code they want. If you are not allowed fish nets stockins at during daytime most likely won't be acceptable at the event either!

Depends on the company.
If you work for a church - no.
If you work for a company that prides itself on family values and high morality no.
If you work for a company that serves wine or alcohol at it's functions, it's likely okay. Especially in a "metro" environment.
Keep it tastful by wearing modest heals and skirt.

I say yes. Your work dress code (if there is such a think at your job) does not carry over to non work hours.
