Yes because "Emo" means emotional & all of their songs are about break ups& emotional stuff like that. Well at least their old stuff I haven't hear all of their new album. Music genres are so ambiguous these days that a lot could be considered emo. I think it's all a matter of opinion. They're defiantely not as emo as All American Rejects or Fall Out Boy though.

And emo is emotional. SO, yes, emo would be appropriate. Their previous album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, was about Gerard Way's gramma dying (though it doesn't seem like it), and this album, The Black Parade, is about coming of age.

Depends on your definition of emo.
If emo is just plain emotional, as it started out, then yes.
If you think emo is like cut your wrists I wish I would die then no.

The band themselves described their music as simply "rock" or "violent, dangerous pop" on their official website, as well as rejecting the term "emo" to describe their style. But another source quotes Gerard stating they are "What-else-ya-got-emo".

no , there not emo, why do you people always have to label everything. if u like it then listen to it. If your not an MCR type of person than shut up and leave them alone. iF YOU ARE A TRUE MCR FAN U WILL LOVE THEIR MUSIC WEITHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING ITS EMO OR POP OR WHATEVER!

theyre alt-rock or horrorcore.
definitely not emo.
but some of their lyrics make people think they are, especially Gerard's death and blood obsession.
but not emo.
