anti-lock braking system

It means that there is a problem with your antilock brake system. This won't affect your normal brake system, you just won't be able to stop as fast. You need to have the car scan tested by a reputable shop & find out what the codes are.Could be a wheel speed sensor, poor connection, or possibly a module. Not a big deal though,my abs light in my cavalier has been on for 2 years. So its a matter of how much do you want to spend.

Take it to a Chevy dealer. You have to get this fixed. You have a problem with your ABS System

your chevy dealer will trouble shoot and makes the light go on with their secret tricks to prevent this from happening and they will watch to make sure the ABS light goes off when you turn the motor on.

Anti-lock braking system. It is probably about to go out, which doesn't really mean anything. I have a '98 Chevy pickup that i bought about a month ago and it did the same thing. I am taking it into the shop that originally fixed it on monday to have them fix it under warranty.

you either have a problem in the abs motor or sensors. wiring could also be a problem. do a visual look at all your whell speed sensors. water intrusion, road salt can cause problems. if your red brake light also comes on it is best to have it towed to a good repair shop.

bad brakes DON'T make the ABS light come on..A problem with the ABS makes the ABS lite come on..Is usually a bad sensor..they cost from 75 to 175 dollare..the factory ones are best even though they cost..Iv gotten the cheep auto zone and o'reily ones and gotten them bad out of the box..the good garentee means nothing because of the labor costs...And dont let them tell you its unsafe to drive without ABS.. from 1900 to the 1990 we drove just fine without it..
