I am due on Saturday. Last week when the doctor checked me, I was dilated to 2cms, and he stripped my membranes. I've also lost my mucus plug over the last 3 days, but there was no blood. I keep having cramping/burning like pain in my back and abdomen, and cervix...but the pain is not always accompanied by a contraction. Is this still a sign of labor?

Those are signs of prelabor, but not labor. Every labor is different, so I can't say how long it will be. Just be ready it should be soon, it's a good sign you are dialating and losing your plug!

I would go to the dr, I was having BAD lower back pain, no contractions, no blood, my water hadn't broke.. Just pain in my lower back.

When I got to the hospital I was 8 1/2cm dilated,I gave birth 2 hrs later and this was my first prenancy, so you should go just to be safe.

You need to make sure you time this back pain. It sounds like you are going into early labor. You may want to call your dr after you have timed these and see is he wants you to go to the hospital. If your water breaks you need to go immediately so you don't risk infection (which you probably already know). I know when I had my son I had back labor and was told to go to the hospital and they admitted me even though I wasn't in full blown labor yet. I hope I helped.

i think you should go get checked... you might be in labor b/c my dr gave me a peice of paper with signs of preterm labor on it and they are:

1. regular labor pains less than 10 mins apart...
2. Dull, low backache
3. menstrual-like cramps
4. pressure in lower abdomen, back or thighs
5. increase in discharge from vagina
6. bleeding from vagina
7. leaking of fluid from the vagina
8. cramping in the bowels with or without diarrhea

hope these help. Good luck, Happy delivery, and God bless!!!

sounds like contractions. contractions kinda feel like you got pulled muscles in your stomach and someone is ripping them apart. some contractions feel like bad bad gas cramps. that get worse.
