Please don't say just 'yes' or 'no'.

I have a very low pain threshold, so I'd likely confess very quickly.

I'd do what I could to kill myself before I gave up any information, but if that wasn't possible, I'd break pretty quick.

Don't they usually say that everybody breaks? Its just a matter of time. Days, months, years - they will get it out of you eventually, so isn't it best to just confess and not have the pain?

What scares me is what happens if they are convinced you know something that you don't? How long do they keep torturing you before they believe you?

While it is possible, if the cause was great enough, I might find the inner resilience to hold out, I'm pretty sure I would give up my secret. While there are certainly exceptions, most people would break if the torture was severe enough. The exceptions would be most likely people who have been trained to withstand torture, and even then it is no guarantee.

My husband was an AF Academy grad. They actually had war games where enemy students were tortured (within limits, obviously) and even KNOWING that the torture could only go so far and would end soon, some cadets still broke and revealed their side's "secrets".

No one can suffer torture without talking. A secret is only a secret if only one person knows about it. There are not many of those around these days. The real question is would you deny something that is a fundamental truth. This is the acid test.

Would you deny Christ on pain of torture and death?

Before the knee-jerk from the non-believers out there, my old dad (an old sailor and now long since dead used to say there are no atheists when the ship sinks!)

Honestly, I do not know what I would do. Some people will try to act like heroes and say that they will never reveal their secrets even if they are tortured, but that in my opinion is a joke. What people say they will do and what they actually do in a circumstance is often much different. Therefore, I cannot say what I would do until I am actually faced with the situation.

I imagine that not only would I tell any secrets I knew under torture, I would probably make up anything they wanted to hear as well. That is why torture is not a good process to gain information. At some point, the person being tortured will say anything they think you want to hear to get you to stop.

yes. But I would rather die than be tortured. And there's no way of knowing they would stop torturing you if you confessed, unless you were somewhat attractive and were able to bed one of your torturers.

H/o 1st I'd probably call them names, tell them the whole "we all die in the end" speech, & etc. And if I eventually did confess, I would tell them a bunch of lies mixed with some truth just for the satisfaction of not being able to be of any use to the bullies.

Its been proved that everyone has a different breaking point so its hard to say..... You could be tortured severely with lets say electricity but if that's not the thing that can break you then you might manage to not tell the secret. I think i would go as far as i could but who knows?

I have a very low threshold of pain tolerance. So, secrets would not be at all safe with me ~ of the kind that anyone would think of torturing me for. On the other hand ~

I'm a very discrete individual and respect the privacy of others and the confidentiality of what others tell me, and of which I am expected to keep to myself.

Sash.

No. Since any self respecting torturer is going to kill you once he's got the information/ confession out of you anyway (it's not like in the movies), I'd simply fight to the death to get away - I'd rather just be shot/ blugeoned to death than have to sit through days of sicko torture, just to be killed at the end of it anyway. Why give the bastard the satisfaction?

i don't have any strong beliefs, my services go for 6.25$ an hour and a promise of relative safety.

for the sake of argument, lets say i cared about something other than myself. If it were super duper important i would try my best not too, but in the end i have an idea how it's going to feel and if you really knew you'd just tell them asap, on the car ride over. spillin the beans.
