Camellia plant - an evergreen tree/shrub which is native to Asia, has oval, dark green leaves and waxy rose-like flowers which come in pink, red, white and variegated colors. A very hardy plant, abundant in the Sacramento, CA valley that's why it is called the Camelia (and Orange) City. Camelia Japonica is the most common variety. You can purchase this plant at the big hardware stores like Home Depot, Ace, or the like.
