Sometimes women skip periods for no other reason than that they ate cottage cheese on the full moon, which just happened to land on a day ending in the letter Y. In other words, there is NO reason for a skipped period sometimes.

Frankly, if you're NOW freaking out about it, it will further delay your period, so you need to calm down. If you're not sexually active, you've got nothing at all to worry about.

If it continues for another month or two, then make an appointment with your gynecologist and get a full check up. Chances are, when you relax and stop being so uptight about it, things will get back to normal.

First of all, the crazy thing about stress is you don't always realize you are that stressed so there may be some stress in your life that could be affecting it. Secondly, you are so worried about not having your period, as I would too, but that and the stress it creates is enough to cause you to miss your period. I've read that women who worry that they are pregnant actually end up missing their periods due to the stress not to an actual pregnancy. I am 23 years old and still don't have regular periods and my doctor tells me it is nothing to worry about. There are many women who just start off that way. So, my advise to you, relax. If you miss a second month, then talk to your doctor about it.

It is not uncommon for young women to skip periods even without being thin. After being anorexic as a preteen/teen I had irregular periods for a long time. Even after being the regular weight. Even now in my 30's I sometimes skip periods. If it's a month only I wouldn't worry about it. If it's more than a month I would see your doctor, could be hormone levels, etc.
