it's a machine account that is used to run the web processes for asp.net web sites. If you are not running a web site on the machine you can delete it.

Right click on "My computer"
select "Manage"
expand "Local Users and Groups"
select "Users"
select the account and delete it

ASP.NET is an application framework for programmers. Microsoft developed it. Most computers that have XP also have the the .NET framework available. If he wants to pick up programming he can use it for free. He can also download a free application development tool from Microsoft called Visual Studio Express. ASP.NET can be used to develop websites and desktop applications.

So that is the answer to what it is.

Second question is how to delete it...Well you may want to leave it there. There maybe some application dependencies that require ASP.NET to function on that computer. It would be best to leave it alone.

ASP.NET is a programming language and needs user permissions for web folders to run the developed programs.
It means that a user will be added after installing .Net on you windows that's used for developers.
you can delete it if you want.
