I get disgusted every time look at those types of ceilings. I prefer the smooth textures to the bumpy ones.

I have them in my house, they are called Popcorn. They were very popular in the 80's. You can have a professional remove them for you, it can usually be done in 2 days and is inexpensive. Look for a contractor that spacializes in painting or drywall, they can usually do it.

Because they are trying to hide the crappy drywall work somebody did or they had a water leak.

great....I just realized they're on my ceiling......you can grade your cheese on them though and makes a good back scratcher
