Hello All,

My computer recently started shutting down when I run anything that has a heavy graphic element to it. Now My assumption is that it may be the Graphics Card ( NVIDIA Quadro4 750- 128MB) since it only does this when I run some heavy Graphic apps like Google Earth, 3D programs, or simply trying to play 2 video's at once. The computer does one of two things - either just shuts off and restarts, or freezes completely with a beeping sound. Honestly I'm not sure what is causing it to crash - Power supply? RAM? etc.

So my assumption that it is the Video Card comes from these following reasons:
-I know that RAM rarely goes bad ( or so i've been told )
-I just swapped out my power supply
-New harddrive
-only shuts down during heavy grafx apps.

anyhow -does anyone have exp. in this realm? would really appreceate the feedback - I dont want to swap out parts that I dont need to - thanks!!

During the process of cleaning out my computer throughly ( i usually give it a quick air blast once in a while... ) I discovered that the fan on my graphics card was not spinning, I guess it crapped out and the card was overheating for this reason - thanks again - cheers

You might be overheating...keep track of your temperatures with SpeedFan, if it goes over 130 degrees F, that could be a problem. You can test your RAM with MemTest86 if you want, just to be sure. Also, are you sure you have enough wattage with your new power supply to support your hardware?
My guess would be overheating though...clean out the dust from your computer.

NOTE, I edited this:
Clean the card's and CPU's terminals with alcohol and check the systems temperature. The motherboard may be trying to let you know it is shutting down the system due to o/h by BEEPING. the system probably knows there is a fatal error and it decides to shut down. Besides, you did not say anything about slow performance, so why upgrade? You can edit the options by pressing delete a few times when you start. there may be a record of why it shut down in there. You can try to put a fan with the case open to see if you have a heat problem. Make sure the fans run. Cleaning helps reduce the heat problem. Do one thing at the time so you will know which one it is.

Does Norton document a virulent disease? the simplest and superb thank you to easily be confident you do not have a virulent disease may well be to backup all your own information and then reinstall abode windows thoroughly. Then if it nevertheless shuts down at random then it ought to be a hardware undertaking. commencing 2000 in risk-free mode might show you how to in deleting any information. (Hit F8 whilst the computing device is booting up and then decide on "risk-free Mode" whilst a catalogue looks)

yeah more a likely is the graphics card over heating and causing the pc to freeze up. since it looks like you have tried everything else, also best to make sure all your drivers are up to date.
