Hello.

Hurricans in Mexico are as usual as the hurricans that may hit Miami or any other place. For example. last year none of them hit the mayan riviera. And in the case there's one near, government gives the warning and evacuates all the tourists.

And, it really is paradise in there.

Hurricane season starts June 1st-Nov 30. You are traveling during hurricane season so there is a risk. But, I would take a chance because most of the bad hurricanes usually happen in Sept or October. You will have plenty of warning in the event of a bad storm. However, I would take out travel insurance. Better safe than sorry.

Have a great trip.

look man, i just went to florida and there was a warning on the beach about sharks and man' o wars, i went swimming anyway cause i wasnt gonna have my trip ruined by worrying about something that will probably never happen. go for it. You have more of a chance of getting hit by a bus crossing the street to get your mail than getting eaten by a shark or blown away in a hurricane.
