First of all, you should have some ibuprofen or Tylenol around your house already, and they are both good at helping to relieve cramps (take them as instructed on the bottle).
If you really don't have medications, here are some other options:
1)Hot tea - particularly chamomile - it can act as a muscle relaxant.
2)Heating pad - put it over your clothes, either against your lower abdomen or low back for 15 minutes at a time
3)Lay on your back, put 2 pillows under your knees and do the above (tea and heating pad). Another position can be to fold your legs under you and lay over them.
4)Hot bath - same effect as the heating pad, but all over.
I hope this helps - I know how horrible cramps can be - let me know if you need any other information.

Hi Dear,
First, cramps can be very painful so this is not completely unusual. I used to find myself laid up in bed for a day when I was younger because I would get cramps in my abdomen and up and down my legs. HOWEVER, if your cramps are debilitating and persistent you probably should see a doctor.
To minimize discomfort, you can try any type of ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin). A heating pad placed on the abdomen also works wonders. Cold temperatures will make cramping more painful so avoid sitting outside!
Given your special circumstances, I think you need to consider how your dad will react when you present female issues to him. If you think he will be supportive and helpful, then you should begin to have dialogue with him so that he can be of assistance to you and be involved in your life. However, if you think he will be of little help and show no interest, then you should seek out an adult woman with whom you are comfortable to talk to. If you don't have someone like this in your life, you can talk to the school nurse or guidance counsellor.
I wish you well, hon!

Try your best to stay away from caffine and chocolate that can make your cramps worse. Drink planty of water. I would try walking around (go to the mall or the park with you freinds) now I know thats not really what you want to do but the more you move that better you will feel. and next time you go to the store just pick up midol and put it in the shopin cart I'm sure your dad will understand especially when you put it with your pads or tampon depending on your style. Good Luck

If your menstrual cramps are painful, you may think about taking some type of the over-the-counter medication for one to two days. These medications are "antiprostaglandins". They relieve the discomfort, make your flow lighter, and make your uterus cramp less. You should use ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Nuprin) or naproxen sodium (Aleve). Make sure you read the label as to how much and how often you should take the medication. You should not take these medications if you are allergic to aspirin-like medications or have stomach problems .
You could also try a heating pad or a warm bath to help soothe the pain. Some girls like to exercise when they have their menstrual period because it helps lessen their cramps. Other girls are uncomfortable exercising when they have their period. You should find what works best for you. You should also eat a healthy diet, drink lots of fluids, and get plenty of rest during your menstrual period.
cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry you don't have a mother to confide in. Premarin always worked good for me or Alleve. I would also put a heating pad on my stomach or back which ever one hurts. Premarin helps with the bloating. Drink alot of water and get plenty of rest. Hope all goes well with ya.
Oh, don't worry about being embarrased to tell your father, he knows about this stuff.

For cramps take whatever pain meds you use for a headache. Tylenol, ibuprofen or naproxen. Use a heating pad or hot water bottle on your stomach.
