is the ending in the movie for fma really how the whole thing ends? cuz it was sorta dissapointing that they were still stuck there. or is it actually supposed to end differently?

The ending of the anime is picked up by the beginning of the movie, and the ending of the Movie is the ending of the series.
There is no second movie coming out

Im thinking there is another movie coming out if it hasn't already, but I don't know when the time period in it is.
on a lighter note in the anime awards show FMA took home about two or three awards (mechas)

I think there might be another movie or series or maybe even both. Since they did leave the door wide open for a sequel to take place. Well thats what I think but I can be wrong.

well for the anime it was the total ending. however the manga is still ongoing, go to www.stoptazmo.com where you can download it for free, apparently they have gone completely off from the anime. i think its around chapter 300
