The past couple of weeks there has been nothing but these gross bugs flying around my room. My room is clean, so what is attracting them?? I have a house plant in my room could this be the reason?

There is a fungus gnat and a white fly that's about the same size that do infest plants, and that could well be the source. I'm betting on the fungus gnat. The immature stage lives in the soil rather than on the leaves and the adults fly around, so simply examining the plant won't reveal them. Sometimes it indicates that a plant is being kept too moist. Sound familiar? If you look at the soil surface at night with a flashlight you might see small pale greyish thread like moving around.and you'ld know for sure. Then again you may not see them at all.
Let the plant get a little dryer than usual and then soak the whole pot all the way to above the soil line fo an hour or two, this usually work to drown them. If the plant is due to be repotted, remove the top inch or two of soil and replace with fresh good soil. Another tip to stop adults from returning to breed is to place a layer of aquarium gravel about a half inch deep over the top of the soil.
Hope something here will help, if it is fungus gnats.

Got to be something...do you have a kitty litter box for a kitty? Nothing "leaking" anywhere..wall pipes and such? Nothing in your closet that might be damp..under the bed..something that you have forgotten about or caused by said leak. Do you smell anything strange? Mildew etc. Something outside your window that might be drawing them? I'am at a loss except for those possibilities....oh, your plant that you have is not a venus fly trap is it?.

you must live in a humid region. we have the same problem in our kitchen. the little fruit flies buzz around on our empty counter tops and i was confused for a while. i got a de-humidifier for reasons other than the flies, and for some strange reason it seemed to help. i really can't explain why but maybe if you try it it'll work. hope this helps.

if the plant in your room has excessively wet soil, nats will be present. let your soil dry out and if they are still present; visit your local nursery for plant bug spray.
