In his mind? Doubtful. I'm certain he believes in the cause and feels he is doing something to help.

Of course you'd have to believe global warming exists before you could say you believe he really is helping.

I know Global Warming is happening today and will have devastating effects around the globe, I know that since records have been taken that there is a very real fluctuation in the temperature of the world and a gradually warming. Today we have measured a huge spike in the warming trend. An unprecedented spike.

I know that past warmings and cooling and warming of the planet. The globe has suffered ice ages and periods of increased heat. All these temperature changes have been very quick geologically speaking meaning that the changes were over hundreds of years. Geologically speaking we are changing at the speed of a race car.

I agree that Al Gore is wrong about buying his way out of his use of carbon. Ordinary people can't. Also, the way to reduce the amount of carbon is to use less not to pay a carbon 'tax'.

No. Al Gore may have already done more to combat global warming than any other human being in history. When compared with the impact he's making by raising global awareness, his home electric bill is infinitesimal.

There are many ways for someone to make the world a better place, whether in terms of promoting peace, improving the environment, or reducing poverty.

Take poverty: A person can volunteer at a homeless shelter, a person can donate food or money to non-government organizations, or a person might instead lobby on Capitol Hill for programs designed to make broad, sweeping changes for the lives of thousands of homeless. All are valid approaches, but the scale and immediacy of their impact varies.

If we look at global warming, the same scenario exists. We all can help by reducing our energy consumption. That being said, we also can help by lobbying for large scale change--which one might argue is necessary if we ever hope to promote individuals to change there behavior.

Suggesting that Al Gore's personal energy consumption somehow disqualifies him or lessens the incredibly significant impact he has had on raising awareness of this crisis is ridiculous--he has simply focused his energies on a method of improvement (global lobbying) that, quite frankly, most of us lack the means to carry out. This question implies that for a leader to be "honest," he or she must carry out every possible measure simultaneously in order to prevent being considered a "hypocrite."

This story underscores why we don't have good leaders right now. We forget that in a democracy, our leaders are citizens, not superheros. We crucify them for their seemingly least relevant shortcomings.

Most people who aren't brain dead don't believe in the proposition that humans are causing Global Warming. And Al Gore is as big a jacka$$ as the democrat symbol would suggest.

Algore lies with ease like his former boss. He is clueless when it comes to Global warming. If we could effect the weather, lets start with eliminating all hurricanes and tornadoes. Right Al.

Jeeezzz, why does everyone hate Al? At least he's doing something about it. At least he is speaking out. All Bush wants to do is create more wars so he can make more money.

The article says he purchases green energy for the house. So... no he is not lying, he just has a big house and pays a lot of $$ for green energy. Good for Gore, he should be investing in renewable energy and he is.

He's doing a hell of a lot more than most people in his income bracket.

Should he live in a 900 square foot home, drive a Hyundai and NOT fly anywhere?
