Today I took an HPT and about 2 minutes later there was a small hint of a line, and it was so hard to see, I had to squint. I took it at about 10:15 this morning. The time frame was 10 minutes. It was a New Choice from the Dollar store. I don't know what to make of it cuz now it def looks like an evap line, it's gray and shadowy looking. Can that happen, a positive SO light that an evap line takes over? Can evap lines come so soon before the time limit is up??

My advice for you would be to test again. Or get another pregnancy test. I took 2 tests a week after I missed my period and there was an error with the readings. 3 weeks after I missed my period I took 3 more tests. 2 of the tests showed a faint line, the digital pregnancy test showed up I was pregnant just as fast as I peed on it.

Because the line has no color, I suspect its an evaporation line.
This doesn't necessarily mean you are not pregnant. Maybe its too early to test? How late are you?

A true "positive" result can be vary faint, but it will have true color.

I would wait three more days and if you are still late, I would buy a First Response test. This brand is the most sensitive on the market and can detect even very tiny amounts of hcg hormone in the urine.

Read the results within the timeframe given on the instructions. Good luck!

OK - dollar store HPT's are just fine! If you saw a faint line within the 10 min read window, I would say Congratulations!

Please keep in mind:
Reading a test after the time frame will give inaccurate results (positive or negative)
A positive reading is 99% accurate while a negative reading is only 50% accurate.

If you are unsure, wait 2-3 days and take another test and read it within the time frame.

Take care!

When I first thought I was pregnant, the first few tests came back as negative, then the next few a faint line (5 days after my expected period). It was only at day 7 after missed period that it was highly visible. Pregnancy tests HCG levels in your urine. Some pregnancy tests detect smaller concentrations than others. The best time (regardless of what the package advises) is to test first thing in the morning when your urine is highly concentrated. If you do feel you are pregnant, go see your doctor as their tests detect very low concentrations of HCG--more so than the store brand. And get a better HPT rather than the dollar store brand...who knows how accurate those ones are. Good luck to you!
