FALL OUT BOY LYRICS

"This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race"

I am an arms dealer
Fitting you with weapons in the form of words
And don't really care which side wins
As long as the room keeps singing
That's just the business I'm in, yeah

This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
I'm not a shoulder to cry on
But I digress

I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate,
Oh so intricate
[x2]

I wrote the gospel on giving up
(You look pretty sinking)
But the real bombshells have already sunk
(Prima donnas of the gutter)
At night we're painting your trash gold while you sleep
Crashing not like hips or cars*,
No, more like p-p-p-parties

This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
This bandwagon's full
Please, catch another

I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate,
Oh so intricate
[x2]

Yeahh…
Whoa-ohh

All the boys who the dance floor didn't love
And all the girls whose lips couldn't move fast enough
Sing, until your lungs give out

This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
(Now you)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
(Wear out the groove)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
(Sing out loud)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race
(Oh, oh)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamned arms race

I'm a leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate,
Oh so intricate

I think it's stating that no matter what he says, it won't 'matter the meaning b/c people only like the song, not the content.
"I am an arms dealer
Fitting you with weapons in the form of words (lyrics in the song)
And don't really care which side wins
As long as the room keeps singing (keeps people buying/listening to their records)
That's just the business I'm in, yeah" (the music business)

This bandwagon's full
Please, catch another (as in, everyone likes them b/c they are 'pop' now, and their real fans were not)

I'm a leading man (lead singer)
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate,
Oh so intricate

I think it's just stating that his lyrics don't mean crap to some ppl, but the fans that were loyal before their popularity are the only ones that are 'getting' them. Now it's just a race to have a #1 song for the money, or the label's money.

I think it's about speech-writers, spin doctors and marketing people.

I wish there were more lyrics that meant something, versus the repetitive stuff...ah well.

Speech writers and marketing people don't really care who wins, their job is to give their employers the right weapons to use...marketing types paint your garbage gold...repackaging, making new 'brand images' etc...spin doctors lie intricately...stuff like that

I think it's about the music "scene" and that fact that it's not even a scene anymore it's just about who's on top and they are not followers but leaders...

That the people really in control of the wars and gangs are the people who sell them weapons. They don't what happens or what their buyers do with them, only that they are rich and powerful from selling them.
