there is no Hebrew word "rib"
the word is better translated "side" or "inside"
some feel God was referring to the chromosome difference in men and women

it's also never called an apple, it's called fruit
God commanded the man to not eat of the tree, it was Adam's job to teach her, and he obviously failed.
that's why man is blamed for the fall of mankind, not woman

It is one of many stories of the bible , not to be taken literally.
and no it does not mean that men are superior . I have a little quote for that "The woman came out of a mans rib, not from his feet , to be walked on , not from his head to be superior, but from the side to be equal , under the arm to be protected and next to the heart to be loved!" So no men are not superior. And yes in the story of Adam and Eve , Eve first took a bite of the apple and then gave it to her husband making him equally if not soley responsible . Because he was created first he had more knowledge and that being said , he was suppose to teach and guide his wife . God had spoken directly to Adam and Adam was suppose to then pass the information down to his wife. Eve was naive (new). Also , no one really knows if Adam & Eve were the first people to walk the earth. Its a story . Not to be taken literally . There is a meaning behind the story , you have to basically read between the lines. I hope this helps

1st off...I really don't believe in a thing the bible says. The reason is because it is a book. 2nd if we believe everything the bible says then we are all imbreeding amoungst each other (considering that we all came from "2 people")

The bible says alot of stupid things. Like how child birth is the punishment for women because eve lied to adam and gave him the apple. I don't think labor is a punishment because that is just stupid. You are doing it because it is natural and because you want your baby.

Now in answering your question. In some bibles I have read that there was another woman made before eve, Out of the same stuff adam was but her and adam didn't get along so god made eve out of adam. Now...for a bit of fun facts.

Women have 1 more rib than men do. ^.^ I don't remember what side it is on but check it out...

Eve was to be Adams' helpmate, so God made her
from Adam's rib as that was closest to his heart. They
were to be very, very close, mate, and start the whole
world's population. As to the other part of your question.
the serpent told Eve not to listen to God about that one
tree in the middle of Eden she should not eat from. So,
Eve went ahead and ate of the fruit of that particular tree
and then she offered some of the fruit to Adam, and he
also ate. When we disobey God, that's the beginning of
trouble for us. Everything was beautiful in the garden
until their disobedience, and then things went downhill
and the devil has been around trying (and succeeding)
in getting people to sin ever since. Read the last chapter
of the Bible (Revelations) and you will see God is the
victor and the Devil is the loser. Alls well that ends well.
You can believe this is a myth, but sorry to say that your
(wrong) belief does not make it so. So, believe in God
and be a part of that wonderful life everlasting.

The first chapters of Genesis (first book of the Bible) explain everything, but basically God created woman from man as a helpmeet (helper yet equal). Eve was literally formed from Adam's rib bone, and this was so Adam would see her as his flesh and they would cleave to each other.
Eve really did eat first and gave Adam the fruit from the forbidden tree (Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil; what kind of fruit was never specified). Adam ate it in full knowledge that he was sinning. Eve was deceived into sinning by the serpent (metaphorically Satan), so Adam had the greater transgression.
By his direct disobedience to God's command, Adam brought sin and death to all mankind, and the ground was cursed for his sake. Previous to this, conditions were ideal in the Garden of Eden (but now thorns, pesky bugs, carnivorous animals, etc.)
Thankfully, Christ saves those who believe on him (Romans chapter 10, verses 9 and 10) from this curse of sin and death (yay!), so we can live eternally. That's why he's called the Second Adam, because he made up in one perfect lifetime for what Adam and Eve did in one idiotic moment.
Everything in the Bible is true; read it and find out. God Bless!

Oh girl it is so BUSTED !! Every single life form in the universe begins female . Human fetuses are all female 'tii 6 weeks then if the DNA tells it to be male well thats what happens. Until then it's female. So Eve had to have been first. And then Adam to be HER helper. So men had to be born with more physical strength to do all the manual labor and build all the shopping malls that we need. Brute strength does NOT make them god!!!
BTW: we used to have 3 breasts.
ps there's nothing wrong with apples . Knowlege is power !

I believe God used a rib from Adam because it was located closest to Adam's heart. God created Eve, brought her to Adam, and performed the first marriage ceremony. When we get married our two hearts are joined as one, thus the significance of using the rib bone.

The story of the creation of Eve can be found in the third chapter of the book of Genesis (which means the beginning). The story tells us that all the animals of the Garden of Eden had suitable mates, but there was found no 'suitable' mate for Adam. That easy enough, since hadn't created a woman for him as of yet!
Now notice the word 'suitable' helper or mate, if you will. Here is where I greatly differ in my study and interpretation of what is being told us here in Genesis about the creation of Eve.
Adam, was a special creation of God. He was a perfect, sinless human being, and God placed him inside the confinds of the Garden of Eden. In other words, he was first created outside the garden and then after his creation by God(Jesus) placed inside! The verse so tell us this fact.
Now what I feel the verses are hinting to here, but not really clear on, and I'm certainly not going to be dogmatic about it, . . is the suggestion from these verses and elsewhere, about the creation of Eve, that Adam, being perfect, in the image of God and sinless, had to have a sinless mate! And since a search by God was done, as so stated in chapter third, and 'none' found (no sinless, perfect woman found) then God created Eve from one of Adam's ribs.
But why would God do a search, or the writter of Genesis tell us that 'no suitable companion' was found for Adam? Did God look at the animals as a companion for Adam? Foolish to even think this, isn't it? This hints to the fact that God(Jesus) had created 'other' human beings in the distant past and God looked at those women among the cities of men!!! But NO woman was found 'good enough' for a sinless, perfect creation of (specimen of man) as Adam!!
What I am saying here, is that Adam was the very first sinless, perfect, created entirely in the image of his creator, . . MAN! But he obviously wasn't the first ever human being on earth!!! Think about what this implies, for a moment. Now we can understand, later where Cain got his wife! The Bible tell us that Cain took his wife and went into the 'cities' of the land of Nod! I don't believe God blessed and permitted 'incess' for a moment. But after the fall of Adam and Eve, God certainly allow Adam's decendants to co-habit with the other humans He had created. They were all sinners as well. . . .
God took the rib from Adam's side when Adam had fallen into a deep sleep, the scripture here in Genesis three tells us. She was taken from his side so as to be his equal and helper, and not from his head, to be over him. She was taken from his side, and not his foot bone, so he wouldn't be her master!

Muslim people have the same story which i think thiers is true!
Adam was lonley and he really wanted to be with somebody( like human nature). God or i think for muslims"Aallah" created eve to be his cpmpanion from one of his bones. They lived in heaven and they were allowed to do what ever they want, eate what ever they want except from one tree. Adam and Eve were happy and god tought Adam all things like the names of angels. Allah asked all angels to bow for Adam, before Eve was created, except for one angle. That angel was created from flame and did not bow for adam because he thinks that flame is better than mud. God has kicked this angle from his mercey and that angle was and still mad that adam lived in heaven and he was kicked out of god mercy. That angel as i read is the Deivel. He swore that he would try to leed all human race to hell with him. so he went to adam to convence him to eat that fruit which some thinks it is an apple but he refused. He went to Eve and she refused i think but she talked to adam "what will happed if we eat from that tree? it must be delicous! the the devil convinesed adam to eat it and adam did!
He and Eve were punished and sent to the Earth insteat of hell and god gave them the choice to choose their paths along with their childern. And the divel followedt them to earth too.

we i find myself with any question that other books dont answer i look at the Q'raan and i alway finds my answers. You can find another answers there too.
