I stay in India, and in India, long power cuts are common. Due to this, many times, my PC crashes. Alternatively, I am not able to see important Cricket Matches due to long power cuts. Most UPS has only a backup of 30 minutes or so, which is clearly insufficient in India.

Some people have said that when power goes off, it would be better to switch off the PC. In that case, how will I complete my job deadline. And what when I am either installing a software or am running an antivirus software.

While India is clearly an up and coming country, it is still not a large enough market for large companies to directly market to.

Most Uninterpretable Power Supplies are designed for the United States. They deliver high wattage (for American computers) with short battery lives because during a power outage the computer should be powered down immediately.

In India, you would be happy with a UPS that delivers 250 watts for 2 hours instead of many power supplies that deliver 550+ watts for 30 minutes.

Makes sense, but market demand stipulate that these kinds of power supplies are not manufactured in large numbers.

However, I did some research for you and found the following APC power supply. I am operating under the assumption that in India, you are not running the absolute latest video card and have two IDE devices running off a 300 watt power supply (aka, low power consumption) I would expect about two hours of runtime from this guy though you will find that as it wears out runtime will decrease. Please check my references for the information.

Hope that helps.

An UPS is not made for long periods of time. It is designed so you would have time to properly shut down your pc or sever, so it doesn't crash and you lose all your data. Buy a small generator.

They're made to supply power for only short periods such as power drops (brown-outs) or short term loss of all power. Enough to allow you save any work in progress. Yhey aren't meant to be a fulltime source of power.

its the nature of the beast... it only provides you enough time to power down safely.... thats it...

if you want a constant powersource when outages occurr, invest in a generator... (uses gas as the fuel)

They are designed to let you shut down gracefully, not keep working indefinitely.
