Here's this theory I've been working on. HP is a lot like Star Wars (a son finds out his dad was a great something-or-other and tries to be like him, everybody compares the two, the force = magic, lightsaber = wand, ron & hermione = han solo & leia, HP = Luke Skywalker, etc etc etc). So is Valdemort REALLY Potter's father?! Haha, JK, I already figured it out.

for all those saying that harry is like his father and valdemort killed harry's father... wasn't luke like his father in star wars? wasn't luke told that darth vader KILLED his father, but in reality, really WAS his father? eh?! btw, star wars rules, and i'm just comparing these two sagas because they have an almost identical plot line.

No, I don't believe that Lord Voldemort is Harry's father. Harry potter has been compared to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia...but I believe the most they have in common is good writing. All of these authors have created completely new worlds and put a likeable young man into some sort of dilemma. It works, though.
Voldemort is actually Tom Riddle, Jr. and Harry's father is James Potter. I will not be surprised to be introduced to a new relative of Harry's in book 7,'the Deathly Hallows.' We may find out that Harry is related to Snape, Hagrid, McGonagoll or even Dumbledore.

I see your point. I am a fan of both, and the story parallels are undeniable. However, Rowling has specifically denied this, and she doesn't have a reputation as a liar or misleading her readers. I also think she is smarter than that. Can you imagine the collective worldwide groan on July 22 if this were true? It was a great, unique idea in the 1980's when Lucas did it, but now it is somewhat of a joke. It was in Toy Story for goodness sake. Rowling is smart, and I agree with the earlier poster that she is more creative than that. Plus, James Potter and Voldemort (I forget his given name) were classmates, two different people. Voldemort may be the Emperor, though....

Interesting parallels there. I think the outcome will probably be more creative than that, though.
