I have it set to raid 1 Mirroring. How do I tell if is really working and How do I recover if I loose a drive? Without reinstalling my OS (XP Pro SP1)

During power-on the RAID hardware will display it's settings - you should see it first detect each of the 2 drives and then mark them as 'MIRROR'
(For example,
Ch 0 - Fujitsu 300Gb
Ch 1 - Fujitsu 300Gb
Ch 0 - MIRROR
Ch 1 - MIRROR )
Of course in Windows you will see only a single 300Gb drive
To confirm it's working as it should, power-off & unplug one of the drives - the RAID should detect the 'broken' Mirror during Power up and stop the boot process with a warning.
NB. you should have the option to continue to boot using the remaining drive - but if you choose to do so, you will have to 'rebuild' the Mirror (if you continue to boot with a single drive, the contents will be changed by the boot process)
