I'm writing a story, and one of the characters' names is going to be some spelling of the name 'Gail,' but I don't know which one. The character is young, 13 and immature for her age.
Which one?

Gayle
Gaelle
Gael
Gale

Gail
Gayelle

I like Gayle. It seems the most feminine out of the list and if she is immature, its a name that can be grown into and that a little girl could bloom into a woman with. The rest seem masculine and as for Gayelle, its more of a name with a ethnic background if thats whta you're going for. But seems more for a woman than a little girl. Hope that helps!

If you go with Gale, you can put in a bit about her hearing expressions like "gale force winds" and "gale warnings" and have her justify immature bad behavior by linking it with her name. I knew some people that named their daughter Storm, and had heck of a time teaching her to control her temper....psychiatrist figured out she was trying to live up to her name. Have fun with your writing.
