I STARTING BUYING THINGS WHEN THE BEGINNING OF THE SECOND TRIMESTER STARTED. THAT IS WHEN MY ENERGY INCREASED, AND I FOUND OUT THAT I AM HAVING ANOTHER BOY. WE PAINTED, CLEANED THE RUGS, HUNG SHELVES (WHICH I MADE MYSELF TO MATCH THE DECOR OF THE ROOM, ALONG WITH A MATCHING STOOL) I AM DOING BABY SUZY'S ZOO AND GOT ALL MY THINGS FROM EBAY. INCLUDING THE FABRIC TO MAKE THE CURTAINS. MY GRANDMA JUST FINISHED THE CURTAINS AND IS BRINGING THEM OVER TOMORROW. ALL THATS LEFT TO DO IS HANG THEM AND THEN WE ARE DONE. I AM NOW 32 WEEKS PREGNANT...CAN'T WAIT TO MEET MY SON AND BRING HIM HOME TO IS THINGS.

I'm doing a lot of stencil painting in the nursery, and I didn't want to do it in the hot weather (I'm due in August), so I started at 11 weeks.

I was feeling much better by then, and I was assured by my doctor that the risks of miscarriage were less than 2%, so I decided to get started.

I highly recommend doing it this way, since you can put it down and pick it up when you have some energy, and you can make lots of small projects out of it. It's far more enjoyable this way, than scrambling to get it done all at once.

Not to mention, my sister in law waited too long and she ended up delivering 3 weeks early. Needless to say her husband was putting the finishing touches on the nursery as she recovered in the hospital. It was really sad for them, since they didn't get to enjoy that time at all.

I personally did not wait at all! I was about 3 monthes pregnant when I started my sons nursery. My husband however had big issues with this. Where he comes from you don't buy anything "yourself" until after the baby is born. He swears it is bad luck...but I had the room done well before he was born and he was and is just GREAT! Have fun it takes your mind off of the wait! Con grates!

I wanted to start as soon as possible when I was pregnant w/ my first child. I waited until I was 6 months along, and started getting all the pieces together. I didn't have my baby shower until I was about 36-37 weeks though... So I had to wait for a lot of items.

If the way you are decorating it can work for a boy or a girl, then you can start any time....sooner would be easier on you than later, especially for putting together furniture or painting.

However, if you want it to be either pink or blue, you'll want to wait until you are sure what the baby is going to be.

If you are suspicious, and want to go by the old folks, wait til you are about 7 or 8 months. If you aren't, do a little at a time all through the pregnancy. It's fun to wait to find out whether boy or girl though so you don't have pink in your little boys room. lol..lol.
I'm mom to 3.

As soon as I hit 12 weeks I will, since I will be 12 weeks on easter, I will most likely start the week after, but I already know what I am doing and have a lot of stuff.

I never start until around the 8th month, i am one of those people who keep in the back of there mind that anytime something could happen with pregnancy, at 8 months baby could survive outside of womb, I know it sounds negative but I am a rational thinker, just my personality.
